A pretty and striking Swedish flat weave (Rollakan) Rug, 200cm x 137cm (78 x 54 inches) Circa 1950.
With it's delicate pastels and graphic drawing style, the design and colour palette are in the tradition of Swedish textile designer Marta Maas-Fjetterstrom. The uniquely sparse and geometric composition of traditional Scandinavian rugs like this perfectly complements the Mid Century design aesthetic, making them very suited to modern interiors.
This is a superbly well made, high quality hand knotted rug. Heavy, durable and can be used both sides. The condition is perfect, with original ends and selvages intact and no loss or wear to the weave. It has been professionally cleaned, though there are a couple of areas of yellowing (particularly the right edge and bottom tassels as seen in our images)
